A day-long national conference on Communicating India is being held in New Delhi today. The three main themes for the conference are 'Telling India's story to the world', 'Communicating via Journalism' and 'Dialogue with Diaspora'.<br/><br/>Addressing the function, Member of Parliament Jay Panda said GST is the single biggest economic event in the recent times which is going to turn the country into a single market. He said, India is seen as a beacon with its fast growing economy.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Dr Daya Thussu, Professor of International Communication, University of Westminster, London said India's presence in international news is almost non existent despite having a strong english language base. He said there is an immediate need for Indian news at the global level.<br/><br/>Journalist Sanjay Baru said India has failed to tell an effective Indian story to the outside world. He said no Indian newspaper and television has adequate number of foreign correspondents. He added that public-private sector partnerships holds the key.<br/><br/>Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu will deliver the valedictory address of the conference. <br/><br/>The conference has been organized by the Vivekananda International Foundation in collaboration with the India Media Centre, University of Westminster, London, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library and the Indian Institute of Mass Communication with the association of Prasar Bharati. <br/>
