Day curfew lifted in Bareilly

In Uttar Pradesh, the day curfew has been lifted in all five police areas including Baradari, Qila, Kotwali, Subhash Nagar and Prem Nagar in Bareilly. Educational institutions will be open from Monday.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that with the situation improving in riot-hit areas the administration has also allowed plying of vehicles in the Bareilly city.<br/><br/>The curfew was relaxed on Saturday for 17 hours from 5AM to 10 at night. No untoward incident is reported in the curfew-bound areas and elsewhere for the post few days and the situation was normal.<br/><br/>The situation had become a bit tense on Friday night after six statues were allegedly stolen from the ancient Jagganath Puri temple in Bada Bazar area of the city. Protesting against the theft, members of a community blocked road, which was later lifted on the assurance that the guilty would be arrested soon. Security is tight in view of the night curfew and police personnel are deployed at all sensitive places.
