On day one of the Davis Cup Asia Oceania Group One tie at Christchurch today, India and New Zealand were locked One-One. After Michael Venus defeated Somdev Devvarman in the opening Singles in five sets, Yuki Bhambri rescued India with an impressive 6-2, 6-1, 6-3 win against Jose Statham in the Second Singles. The winner of the tie will qualify for the World Group Play-offs to be held in September.
