Davis Cup tie: Paes, Bopanna together to give India good chance, says Anand Amritraj

The Davis Cup World Group Play-off tie will be held at KSLTA stadium in Bangalore from September 12 to 15. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will pick the draw for the matches today. The Indian and Serbian teams had arrived in Bangalore three days ago and had practice at the stadium. Speaking to media persons yesterday, the Indian Captain Anand Amritraj said that the Indian side has come together and looks strong. He hoped that the tie will tilt on the Indian side as Leander Paes and Bopanna coming together will give us a good chance. He added that a five match Davis Cup tie can spring surprises and the Indian team was ready to do its best. Senior doubles star Leander Paes said factors like unknown qualities of visiting singles players, besides home support and a good doubles pair can help India pull off an upset against Serbia. He however felt that it would be difficult to take a 2-0 lead, as Serbian singles players, including Nenad Zimonjic, were solid. The Serbian top singles player Dusan Lajovic holds ATP rank 61 and the second singles player is Ilija Bozoljac who got a wild card in the US open but lost in first round.World's top ranked Novak Djkovic and injured higher ranked player Tipsarevic of Serbia are not taking part in the contest.
