India have taken a One-Nil lead against New Zealand on the opening day of the Davis Cup Tennis Asia Oceania Group I relegation play-off Tie. In Chandigarh yesterday, Yuki Bhambri gave the lead to the hosts when he defeated Daniel King Turner in five sets 3-6, 0-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-2. The match lasted three hours and 15 minutes.In the second Singles, Vishnu Vardhan was leading by two sets to one against Kiwi Number One Jose Statham 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 when bad light stopped the play which will be resumed today before the doubles match. The two Reverse Singles are slated for tomorrow.
