Dattatreya asks unions to call off proposed strike

Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya has asked trade unions not to go ahead with their proposed nationwide strike today as the government has agreed to most of their demands. In a press conference at New Delhi yesterday, Mr. Dattatreya said, that the trade unions must think in a positive manner. <br/><br/>He said out of their 12 demands, the Ministry has agreed on nine demands. The Minister has assured the unions that workers' interests will not be harmed. Central trade unions have called for a day-long stir today to protest against alleged anti-workers policies of the government and unilateral labour reforms.
