Union Labour Minister Bandaru dattatreya today reiterated that he did not put pressure on the University to suspend any student. His statement came in the wake of the row over suicide by the Research Scholar, Rohit Chakravarti Vemula in the Hyderabad Central University in Hyderabad. <br/><br/>He said in a statement that he has in no manner influenced any decision made by the University of Hyderabad in this case directly or indirectly. He said his role was only limited to forwarding two representations. <br/><br/>Mr Dattatreya further recalled that he has been a leader of downtrodden ever since he entered into politics in 1980s. Rohit and four other students were barred from accessing the hostel and other facilities at the University following which Rohit committed suicide four days ago.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, University Vice-Chancellor Appa Rao today denied the allegations that he is a BJP person and said attempts are being made to politicize Rohit's suicide. He also said action against five students was not taken under pressure from any quarters. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, a series of leaders from all hues and parties have lined up to the University to express their solidarity to the agitating students.<br/><br/>The four students against whom the university took action along with Rohit sat on hunger strike. The student and faculty organizations have been seeking action against those who are responsible for the suicide of the research scholar.
