Human Resources Development Minister Smriti Irani has said suicide of a Dalit scholar in Hyderabad Central University is not a Dalit versus non-Dalit issue as some people are trying to portray. Briefing media in New Delhi yesterday, Ms Irani said certain facts have been misrepresented in the case and malicious attempt is being made to ignite caste issues.

The Minister said the matter is sub judice and assured that judiciary will provide justice to all. She said the fact finding team sent by the Ministry to Hyderabad will return this evening and submit its report to her. Referring to media reports about Rohith Vemula's suicide note, Ms Irani said it did not mention name of any official of the University, any MP or organisation.
