Dalai Lama calls upon Maoists to follow non-violence path

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama called upon Maoists to give up arms and follow the path of non-violence.<br/><br/>Speaking to media after arriving at Bhubaneswar Monday morning on a four-day visit to Orissa, the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader said the problem is at the grass-root level but using violence to fulfil demands is wrong. He, however, maintained that less privileged and poor people are sometimes still exploited.<br/><br/>The Dalai Lama was given a warm welcome by Orissa’s Tourism Minister Mr Debi Prasad Mishra and other senior officials at the Biju Patnaik airport from where he flew to Jirang in Gajapati district of Orissa. He is scheduled to stay in the Maoist-affected Gajapati district for three days and inaugurate the Padmasambhava Mahavihara monastery, said to be one of the biggest monastery in Asia on Tuesday.<br/><br/>Elaborate security arrangements have been made in Gajapati district considering Maoists' link with China which has been opposing Dalai Lama.
