In Sikkim, the Tibetan Spiritual Leader Dalai Lama arrived at the historic Pemayangtse monastery in West Sikkim district on a ten day long visit to the State today morning. Later, he left for the famous Tashiding monastery.AIR Gangtok correspondent reports that Dalai Lama is visiting Sikkim on an invitation from the State Government. He will inaugurate and participate in a 4-day long conference on Modern Cognitive Sciences and Eastern Contemplative Traditions in Gangtok on the 20th of this month. It is being organised by the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology. The conference, the first of its kind for Sikkim, is expected to lay the foundation for Sikkim Government’s efforts to formally introduce concepts of morality and ethics to its school curriculum.The Dalai Lama is also scheduled to oversee the construction of the ongoing Buddha Statue Park and visit the Tibetan Refugees’ Settlement at Ravongla In South Sikkim district during his stay in Sikkim.
