Dalai Lama arrives in J&K

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama today arrived mountain locked Gulabgarh town of Paddar area of Kishtwar district in Jammu region on a two day visit. <br/> <br/>The spiritual leader, who is on his first visit to Kishtwar, was given a warm welcome by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and several other Ministers. Soon after his arrival, the Buddhist leader held prayers and inaugurated a Buddhist Centre which has been set up by the Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Society. <br/> <br/>A number of Buddhist leaders from the country especially Dharamshalla and Ladakah have already reached Gulabgarh to attend all religion prayers and functions. Gulabgarh, Paddar is the only place in Jammu region where about 7,000 Buddhists live. State Government has made tight security arrangements in Paddar with para-military forces and Police personnel having been deployed in strength in mountain overlooking Gulabgarh. Senior officers of Police and Civil administration are camping at Gulabgarh to ensure that the two day visit of VVIP passes off peacefully. <br/>
