The Chairman and Managing Director of Public Sector Undertaking Gas Authority of India Limited, GAIL,B C Tripathi informed on the sidelines of Global Investors Meet in Bangalore today that Dabhol-Bangalore Gas pipeline will be laid by March 2012. From Dabhol in Maharashtra to Bangalore in Karnataka it will be a 1400 kms pipeline worth Rs. 5000 crores aimed at supplying Gas to fertilizer and power plants in Mangalore and Bangaluru of Karnataka and also Goa. It will lay another pipeline between Cochin and Bangalore via Coimbatore with an expenditure of Rs.5000 crore. This pipeline will have the capacity to supply 30 million metric standard cubic metre of gas everyday. Tripathi informed that the company is building four terminals in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Kerala to process crude gas. The Government of Karnataka has signed another MOU with GAIL today to implement, operate and manage City Gas distribution project to supply CNG to automobiles and piped natural gas to households in Mangalore and Bangalore. GAIL aims at connecting households in 201 cities in the country with piped natural Gas connection by 2015.
