Czech Republic to support India’s bid for permanent seat in UNSC

India and the Czech Republic have decided to further strengthen the mutual cooperation with the focus on the sectors of science and technology, engineering, trade and commerce and also the cultural exchange. The Czech President has also reiterated the commitment to support India ‘s claim for a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council and candidature for non-permanent membership of the organisation during the ensuing elections for 2011-2012. The Vice President Mr. Mohammad Hamid Ansari, who is in the Czech capital Prague for the three-day tour of the Czech Republic, visited the historic Prague Castle and called on the President Mr. Vaclav Klaus today. Union Minister of State for Communications Mr. Sachin Pilot and four Members of Parliament also accompanied the Vice President on this occasion.<br/><br/> The Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs Mr. Vivek Katju briefed the mediapersons on the meeting. He said,–<br/><br/> The Vice President delivered a lecture organised by the Prague Security Studies Institute on Challenges of Global Governance in the<br/><br/> 21st Century today. Mr. Ansari would also call on the Chairman of the Czech Senate Dr . Premysl Sobotka and discuss on the topics of mutual interest later in the day.<br/><br/> The Vice President is also scheduled to meet the Prime Minister Mr. Jan Fishcer and the three agreements which are expected to be signed during the visit would include agreement relating to economic co-operation, social security and a protocol on amending the bilateral investment promotion and protection agreement with the Czech Republic .<br/>
