Cyprus has expressed its solidarity with India on the issues of international terrorism and climate change. In a Joint-Statement made after discussions with President of Cyprus at Nicosia, the President Mrs Pratibha Devi Singh Patil said that it consistently stood for the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity of the Republic of Cyprus. She said that India wishes to achieving resolution of the Cyprus problem with Turkey in accordance with its aspirations and the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.President of Cyprus Mr Demetris Christofias reaffirmed their support for permanent seat in UN security council to India. Discussion between both the leaders covered the entire gamut of bilateral relations, as well as international and regional issues of mutual importance. They reviewed the functioning of the institutional arrangements for dialogue between the two countries. They also affirmed desire to further develop bilateral economic and commercial relations in a cross- sectoral manner.
