In Andhra Pradesh, death toll rose to 9 due to Cyclonic storm Laila, with 3 more persons died due to electrocution in Krishna District. About five thousand houses and crops worth several crores of rupees have been damaged due to the storm hit. Earlier, 3 persons died in Nellore, two in East Godavari and one in Vizayanagaram districts. <br/> Several districts including Nellore, Prakasam, Guntur, Krishna, East and West Godavari have received extremely heavy rainfall under the influence of the storm. According to the reports reaching to the central Control Room set up in Hyderabad, several towns on the coastline are filled with water up to two feet. Machilipatnam in Krishna district, Ongole town in Prakasam district and Bapatla in Guntur district are almost two feet under water with Prakasam and Guntur being the worst affected districts. Bus stations, shops and even hospitals in these places are under water stalling normal life.<br/> According to Weathermen, heavy rains would continue for 18 more hours as the Cyclonic storm touched land between Bapatla and Ongool this evening. The storm recurved its path after touching the land and started moving in Zig zag manner. It has weakened further and started moving Northern direction towards Visakhapatnam. Under its influence, moderate to heavy rains are likely over Prakasam, Guntur, Krishna and West Godavari districts for the next 18 hours. State Adminstartion has directed all the district authorities in coastal area to continue Relief Camps till a clear direction given to them. Meanwhile, the state Government has announced a financial assistance of One lakh rupees each to the families of the cyclone victims.<br/>
