Cyclone Vayu: Met dept predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall in Saurashtra peninsula

<span style="color: #222222;">In Gujarat, Met office has issued an advisory for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Saurashtra peninsula, especially for  Gir Somnath district and Diu for next 24 hours. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Met Director Jayanta Sarkar said in Ahmedabad that Saurashtra will continue to experience the effect of the Vayu cyclone for next 48 hours as the storm is centred in Arabian sea 280 km away from Veraval coast and slowly moving away from Gujarat. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Amreli and Junagadh districts are receiving heavy rainfall since last night, but public life is limping back to a normal routine with brisk shopping of essential commodities in the market.<br />'' <br />'' Meanwhile, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has said Vayu cyclone, though spared the Saurashtra peninsula from massive devastation, has tested well the disaster response capability of the state administration. He said, this experience to deal with nature's fury will go a long way to protect the lives and property in similar challenges posed by the adverse climatic hazards.<br />'' <br />'' While speaking to the media persons from State Disaster Response Centre in Gandhinagar, Mr. Rupani formally announced the lifting of high advisory on Vayu Cyclone and said senior ministers and secretaries camping in cyclone-prone districts are advised to return their home base.<br />'' <br />'' Mr. Rupani further said that 2 lakh 75 thousand evacuated people staying in special shelters are allowed to return their home after they are paid cash payments for three days amounting to 60 rupees for adult and 45 rupees for minor per day.</span><br />''
