Home Minister Rajnath Singh today assessed the situation of relief works following the landfall of cyclone Vardah in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Mr Singh had a high level meeting in New Delhi and expressed satisfaction on the preparedness of the central and state agencies in handling the devastating cyclone. <br/><br/>Mr Singh also directed to ensure that the Inter-Ministerial Central team is ready to be sent to Tamil Nadu immediately after the request of the State Government.<br/><br/> Director General of National Disaster Response Force informed that eight teams along with 29 boats have been deployed in Tamil Nadu and NDRF teams are also removing road blockage. Besides, six teams of NDRF along with 20 boats have been deployed in Andhra Pradesh. Flights operations also resumed at Chennai Airport since morning.<br/><br/>An official release says, in Tamil Nadu, 297 relief centers have been opened, more than 13 thousand people have been evacuated and 16 death have been reported.<br/><br/> In Andhra Pradesh, 59 relief centers are working while about 11 thousand persons have been evacuated and two deaths have been reported in the aftermath of the cyclone.
