The cyclonic storm 'ROANU' over west central Bay of Bengal moved north-northeastwards and lay centred at about 80 km south-southeast of Machilipatnam, about 290 km south-southwest of Visakhapatnam and 160 km south-southwest of Kakinada. The system is likely to continue to move north-northeastwards along and off Andhra Pradesh coast and thereafter in northeastward direction. <br/><br/>The system is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm tonight. It is likely to cross south Bangladesh coast between Khepupara and Cox's Bazar on Saturday night or morning of Sunday as a cyclonic storm, according to the Met Department.<br/><br/>Under the influence of the cyclonic storm rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places and isolated extremely heavy falls likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh during next 24 hours and heavy to very heavy falls at a few places during subsequent 24 hours, while heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places likely over coastal Odisha during next 24 hours. Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea.<br/><br/>Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the situation with all the coastal district collectors and officials on the preparedness for the cyclone and heavy rains. He instructed them to take all measures to mobilise people from the low lying and vulnerable areas to shelters providing them with food, milk, water and medicines. <br/><br/>The officials are taking all possible measures that normal life does not get affected under the influence of the cyclone and heavy rains. NDRF and SDRF teams have been readied at vulnerable locations with boats and necessary equipment for rescue and relief operations.
