The Cyclonic storm-PHYAN over east-central Arabian Sea has moved north-ward direction and lay centered at 70 kilometers west- of Harnai, 180 km South- southwest of Mumbai and 430 km south-south west of Surat. According to Meteorological Department, the system is likely to move north- northeastwards and cross South Gujarat and North Maharashtra coast between Alibaug and Valsad by this evening. In its influence, heavy to very heavy rains will occur with wind speed reaching up to 75 kilometer per hour along South Gujarat coast during next 24 hours.<br/><br/>Quoting official Sources, Our Ahmedabad correspondent reports that sea conditions on Maharashtra and south Gujarat coast will remain very rough and fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea. Danger signals have been put up at all ports of South Gujarat and district administrations have been asked to remain alert.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, all 85 fishing boats of Valsad have returned safely after the cyclone warning. Our Daman correspondent reports that out of 59 boats, 28 boats have returned safely, while other boats are also in contact with the authorities.<br/><br/>Gujarat Chief Minister Narender Modi reviewed the situation at State Emergency Operation Centre in Gandhinagar and asked all the district authorities to remain on high alert. The team of State Reserve Police Force and National Disaster Relief Force have been kept stand by for any eventuality.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the cyclone Phyan bypassed Mumbai this afternoon. However alert for heavy rain still continues. Head, Meteorlogical Department Mumbai R.V. Sharma, said that threat of cyclone has drastically reduced in Mumbai. Mr. Sharma further said that warning for Konkan region as well as for fishermen will continue for one more day.<br/><br/>State government has activated all emergency services. Fishermen have been advised not to venture out into the sea. 8 people have been rescued off the Ratnagiri coast. Some fishermen are still on the sea. In Mumbai 16 additional local trains were added on the Western and Central lines.<br/><br/>Reports from coastal area say that fresh paddy stocks are damaged and devastating winds have damaged houses in the region.
