Cyclone Ockhi: NDRF teams deployed in Kerala, Tamil Nadu

In view of Cyclone Ockhi, four teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed at Thrisur, Kochi and Sabarimala in Kerala. <br/><br/>In Tamil Nadu, one team of NDRF has been deployed at Adiyar in Chennai and two in Kanyakumari. <br/><br/>The NDRF said, one additional team is en-route to Cuddalore. NDRF teams deployed in Kanyakumari are engaged to bring normalcy by clearing road and re-establishing power supply with personnel of electricity department. <br/><br/>So far the teams have cleared 93 kilometres of road and removed 665 uprooted trees. <br/><br/>Three teams of the force are kept on stand by at NDRF base in Arakkonam and they will be mobilized if required. <br/><br/>In view of alert for Gujarat and Maharashtra, six National Disaster Response Force teams have been mobilized and pre-positioned at Surat, Navsari and Rajkot. NDRF unit at Pune is on stand by mode for the prompt response. <br/><br/>Remaining NDRF teams are kept on high alert to deal with any eventuality.<br/><br/>A 24×7 NDRF control room in Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and it is also in touch with Indian Meteorological Department and State Administration.
