The Cyclone Nilam formed over West Bay of Bengal, remained practically stationary and centred about 400 kilometers south-southeast of Chennai. The midnight bulletin issued by the Met Department said that the system is expected to cross the coast between Cuddalor in North Tamil Nadu and Nellore in South Andhra Pradesh by this evening.
Due to the storm, incessant rain have lashed Chennai, Tiruchanur, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam districts of Tamil Nadu and Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh.
