Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced one thousand crore rupees immediate assistance to Andhra Pradesh to carryout relief and rehabilitation works in the Hud Hud cyclone ravaged areas of Andhra Pradesh.
He assured Visakhapatnam citizens that he will stand by them in the hour of distress. The Prime Minister visited Visakhapatnam, and assured that the central Government will continue to support the state till normalcy restored in the cyclone ravaged areas.
Appreciating the state government efforts to prevent losses, he complemented it for making use of technology to reduce the effect of the disaster.
The Prime Minister also announced two lakh rupees to the families of those who were killed due to Hud Hud cyclone and related incidents. He visited the cyclone ravaged areas in Andhra Pradesh and announced an ex-gratia of 2 lakh rupees from the PM relief Fund. Assuring all kinds of assistance, he also announced 50 thousand rupees assistance to those who injured.
The Prime Minister also said the intensity of the cyclone and movement was accurately estimated and timely precautions were taken to prevent losses. Meanwhile, the restoration works in the cyclone hit areas are under way in full steam.
The power supply is expected to be restored by this evening and followed by water supply. Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao told All India Radio that the telecommunication systems also will be restored fully by this evening.
He said, all measures have been taken to ensure sufficient supplies of essential commodities to the effected areas.
