Cyclone alert for north Tamil Nadu, south Andhra Pradesh

The Chennai Met office has said that the depression which lay centred 500 Km southeast of Chennai and 270 Km north east of Trincomalee would intensify further into a cyclonic storm and cross north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra coast between Nagapattinam and Nellore by tomorrow. Heavy rains all through the night due to depression, have thrown life out of gear in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu Nagapattinam, Ramanathapuram, Cuddalore and Tiruvarur. Local Cautionary 3 has been hoisted all along coastal Tamil Nadu as squally winds at a speed of 65 to 75 Kilometre per hour is expected to hit. The sea will be very rough and fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea. The district administrations have geared up to face any eventuality. Holiday has been declared for schools in Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur and Chennai. Two fishermen who ventured into the sea from Kodiakarai in Nagapattinam are still missing and coastguard, navy men are searching for them. There are many fishing boats still in the sea and they are being advised to immediately return to land.
