Commonwealth Games organising committee has asserted that nineteenth Commonwealth Games to be held in New Delhi in October this year will be the best ever sporting event in the country. Chairman of the organising committee of the Commonwealth Games, Suresh Kalmadi urged the Delhites to make the event a successful one. He was speaking at the ceremonial launching of tickets for the Games. Delhi Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna today launched the ticketing for the nineteenth Commonwealth Games 2010 to be held in Delhi in October. Suresh Kalmadi issued the first ticket to the Lt Governor. Mr. Kalmadi said tickets will only be available via official Delhi 2010 sales channels and the Games website. Tickets will also be available from selected outlets in Delhi and metropolitan Indian cities. Price ranging from 50 rupees to a whopping 50,000 rupees tickets for the Games went on sale today with sports enthusiasts having the option of booking them online or through call centres. The ticketing website — www.tickets.cwgdelhi2010.org and a call center facility 1800-200-1294 to book the tickets — were launched. The Organising Committee said four events will also have free entry for fans — the Marathon, the Walk, Cycling Road Race and Cycling Time Trial. The sale of the tickets will start with immediate effect through the Central Bank of India and Hero Honda stores, CWG ticketing call center (1800-200-1294) as well as through the official website. Spectators buying the tickets will be provided with a confirmation voucher which will be exchanged for actual tickets beginning August 1. Each ticket holder can travel free of charge by Delhi Metro trains and DTC buses to reach and return from the venue on the day of the event for which they hold a ticket.
