On the fifth day of competitions in the 20th Commonwealth Games at Glasgow yesterday, India clinched One Gold and three Silver medals. Three of the medals came from the Shooting Centre. 'Pistol King' Jitu Rai kept his reputation intact by clinching the gold in the men's 50 metre pistol event. Gurpal Singh also took the spotlight with his silver-winning effort in the same event. Gagan Narang, taking part for the first time in the 50 metre rifle prone event, claimed a Silver. The third Silver was clinched by 20-year old Vikas Thakur in men's 85 kg weightlifting. In the overall medal standings, India now occupies the seventh spot with a haul of 7 Gold, 12 Silver and 7 Bronze. Australia top the table claiming 30 Gold, 25 Silver and 32 Bronze.
