CWG preparedness reviewed at high level meeting

The preparedness for the common wealth games was reviewed at a high level meeting in New Delhi today. Lt. Governor of Delhi Tejindra Khanna, Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrashekhar and Prime Minister's Principle secretary T K Nair took stock of the overall preparedness for the Games beginning in National Capital on 3rd of next month. They visited the games village particularly the athletes housing sites and asked the officials to clean up fast. Earlier in the day, Commonwealth Games Federation Chief Mike Fennel urged the authorities to take immediate steps to improve the condition of games village residential zone.Addressing to mediapersons this evening, secretary general of the organizing committee, Lalit Bhanot said before the arrival of players and delegates all cleaning activities in the Games village will be over.The Urban development minister Jaipal Reddy said that cleanliness is not a major issue. He insisted that the image of the country has not been affected by such questions raised by Mike Fennel.Before Mike Fennel's observations, Newzealand , Scotland, Canada and Ireland had complained of sub-standard up keep and poor arrangements for the games.
