CWG: India's Pinki Rani bags bronze in Boxing

India bags first medal of ninth day from Boxing in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. The first medal from Boxing came from Pinki Rani in the 48 to 51 kg category. She lost in the semi final to Michaela Walsh from Northern Ireland. Thus, settling for a bronze medal in Women's event. Four other Indian boxers will also be seen in semi final action tonight. The pugilists are Vijender Singh in 75 kg, Devendro Laishram in 49 kg, Manpreet Jangra in 69 kg and Laishram Devi in the Women's 57 to 60 kg.India's rising shuttler P V Sindhu advanced in the Women's Singles semi final stage. She defeated Kiwi Anna Rankin, in straight sets of 21-10, 21-9. P Kashyap defeated Malaysian D Liew 21-13, 21-14 to enter the semi final in Men's Singles. K Srikanth and RMV Gurusaidutt will also feature in Men's quarter final matches tonight. PC Thulasi will be seen in quarter finals of Women's Singles later in the night. The duo of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa will be seen in the quarterfinals of Women's Doubles. All India Radio will broadcast the live commentary of Badminton quarter final matches from 2255 hours to 0100 hours. It will be available on Indraprastha Channel and FM Rainbow.In Table Tennis men's singles event Achanta Sharath Kamal reached the semi finals. He defeated Paul Drinkhall 11-7, 11-6, 12-10, 9-11, 11-6 to reach semis. The Men's Doubles team of Achanta Sharath Kamal and A Arputharaj defeated Singapore's pair to enter the finals.In Hockey, the Indian Women's have finished 5th as they defeated Scotland 2-1 in the 5th-6th position match.In Athletics, Krishna Poonia and Seema Punia will be vying for top honours when they figure in the Women's Discus Throw Final today. G. Nagaraj will try her luck in the Women's High Jump Final. Ravinder Singh Khaira, Davinder Singh and Vipin Kasana will be featuring in the Javelin Throw qualification, while Arpinder Singh will be seen in action in the qualification of Triple Jump. Indian Men's and Women's 4x400m relay team will be seen in the heats and Women's 4x100m relay team will also sprint their way in the heats.
