CWG: India off to fine start; Medal tally at 2 gold, 3 Silver & 2 Bronze

India had fine start on day one of the 20th Commonwealth Games. India bagged 2 Gold 3 Silver and 2 Bronze yesterday. Today India is participating in 12 events: Badminton, Boxing, Cycling, Hockey, Judo, Lawn ball,Rhytmic Gymnastics, Shooting, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis and Weightlifting.In shooting, India's former Olympic Gold Medallist Abhinav Bindra have qualified for finals of 10m Air Rifle event along with Ravi Kumar. Bindra stood third in qualification with Kumar following him. This is Abhinav Bindra's last Commonwealth Games appearance. Earlier, today former world number one Heena Sidhu and Malaika Goel qualified for the finals in Women's 10m Air pistol event. Sidhu qualified with highest point of 383 and Goel stood fourth with 378 points.Indian Men's Hockey team have started their campaign with 1-3 victory over Wales in it's opening preliminary match. For India Gurwinder Chandi, Rupinder Singh and Raghunath Ramachandra found net. The lone goal came from Welsh was scored by Andrew Cornick.Judokas continue their good form today as India's Sunibala Huidrom has beaten Botswana's Zikhale to reach quarterfinals of women's 70 kg and Garima Chaudhary also defeated Bibiene Fopa of Cameroon to reach the quarterfinal of women's 63 kg However, Balvinder Singh in 73 Kg and Vikender Singh in 81kg lost their bout in Round of 32.The Indian Men's Table Tennis team repeated their yesterday's feat as they defeated Guyana 3-Nil.
