CWG: India grapplers shine, boxers in SFs; Eves out of Hockey

At the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Indian wrestlers bagged 5 medals — 4 Silver and 1 Bronze — yesterday, taking the country's overall tally to 10 Gold, 19 Silver and 12 Bronze. Satyawart Kadian, Bajrang, Sakshi Malik and Lalita advanced to the finals of their respective categories, but could not beat their opponents settling for Silver medals. Navjot Kaur won the Bronze medal match to give India their 9th medal in Wrestling on just the second day of the sport. India had clinched 3 Gold and a Silver on Tuesday.In Boxing, Vijender Singh, Manpreet Jangra, Devendro Laishram and Laishram Devi stormed into their respective semi-finals.The Indian Women's Hockey team crashed out of the Games in the preliminary round after it lost to South Africa, 2-3. This was the Indian eves' second defeat in 4 games.In Athletics, Vikas Gowda booked a Men's Discus Throw final berth, and will try for a medal today. Top Indian shuttlers like PV Sindhu, P. Kashyap, Srikanth K. advanced to their respective pre-quarterfinals. England is currently at the top of the points table, with Australia second, Canada third, Scotland fourth, New Zealand fifth and India at sixth spot.
