CWC reconstituted ahead of Cabinet reshuffle

Ahead of tomorrow's Cabinet reshuffle Congress reconstituted the party Working Committee on Sunday. Ajay Maken and Dr C P Joshi who resigned yesterday from the Union Cabinet have been appointed as the new General Secretaries along with Ambika Soni, Shakeel Ahmed and Gurudas Kamat.

Announcing this in New Delhi, party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said Congress Working Committee has been reconstituted with 21 members, 15 permanent invitees and five special invitees. He said Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi will look after all frontal organisations of the party.

Mr. Dwivedi said Mr Gandhi will be assisted by Prabha Kishore Taviad and Suraj Hegde.Mr. Dwivedi said that Ahmed Patel will continue as Political Secretary to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Motilal Vohra as Treasurer of the party. He said that Screening Committees for Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram and Rajasthan have also been reconstituted.

AIR correspondent reports Oscar Fernandes, Vilas Muttamwar, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Birender Singh have been dropped as General Secretaries.
