CWC meeting in New Delhi in wake of poll debacle

The Congress Working Committee, the highest decision making body of the party is now meeting in New Delhi to take stock of the situation after party's rout in recent Lok Sabha elections. The party witnessed its worst-ever defeat securing just 44 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha. The meeting chaired by party President Sonia Gandhi is being attended by the outgoing Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and party leaders including Rahul Gandhi, P Chidambaram, A K Antony, Digvijay Singh, C P Joshi, Moti Lal Vora, Ajay Maken and Oscar Fernandes.

The Working Committee is expected to endorse Sonia Gandhi's line of sharing collective responsibility in a bid to shield Rahul Gandhi who led the party's campaign for the elections.
