The Congress Working Committee, CWC, met in New Delhi today at the Party Chief Mrs Sonia Gandhi's residence to give farewell to UPA's Presidential nominee Mr. Pranab Mukherjee.
Talking to media after the meeting, Party General Secretary, Janardan Dwivedi said, top brass appreciated the contribution of the senior-most member of CWC. He said Mrs Gandhi expressed hope that Mr Mukherjee will win the Presidential election with clear majority.
Expressing satisfaction over the tenure of Mr Mukherjee in his Cabinet, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh said he handled with distinction many important responsibilities he was entrusted with.
Mr Janardan said, replying to the felicitations, Mr Mukherjee said, whatever he has done for the Party, the party has given him more than that.
Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr Pranab Mukherjee said that he is satisfied with whatever party has given him.
Mr. Mukherjee will resign on Tuesday as Finance Minister ahead of filing nomination papers for the Presidential election. He is to file his nomination papers for the Presidentship on Thursday.
