CVC told to devise clear timeline for disposing of complaints

The Central Information Commission has advised anti-corruption watchdog CVC to devise a clear time-line for disposing of complaints at all levels. Chief Information Commissioner Satyananda Mishra, while hearing the plea of RTI applicant S S Chawla who sought to know action taken on complaint filed against a PSU, observed that lack of time-line to take action results in the complaints taken very lightly by Vigilance Officers of various departments.

During the hearing, Chawla had alleged that by not binding the vigilance officers of departments to complete an inquiry within fixed time limit the CVC was, in a sense, encouraging corruption rather than curbing it .
