Central Vigilance Commission has summoned Walmart India's head in relation to allegations of paying bribes to government officials to get customs clearances and obtain permits to set up stores in India. <br/><br/>Vigilance Commissioner T M Bhasin said observations have been made that Wal-Mart gave some amount to government officials and added the company was asked to submit details to the commission by November 15th.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, this is the first time that the CVC started investigation involving a private company. However, Wal-Mart, in a statement said it has not received any request from the Vigilance Commission.<br/><br/>The anti-corruption watchdog's move came after a recent report by Wall Street Journal mentioning Wal-Mart Stores' alleged payment of bribes to local officials in India.
