The Central Vigilance Commission, CVC, has recommended penalty on 92 officials for their alleged corrupt practices. The officials belong to different government-owned departments. In its performance report for June, the CVC said, the highest number of 21 officials belong to the Central Board of Excise and Customs followed by 13 from the Ministry of Railways, ten each from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and Northern Coalfields Ltd. Nine such employees are from Bharat Heavy Electrical Ltd, eight from the State Bank of India, five from the Ministry of Personnel, PG and Pensions, four from Bank of India and two from Oriental Bank of Commerce among others.The Commission has received a total of 1,167 complaints related to corruption in different government departments during the month. The anti-corruption watchdog has made recoveries to the tune of 3.47 crore rupees during the month after finding discrepancies in different works undertaken by the departments.The Commission said it was deeply concerned over continuing delays in filling the post of Chief Vigilance Officers in several key organisations like Hindustan Shipyards Ltd, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Delhi Transport Corporation and NALCO.
