CVC prepares Draft Anti-Corruption Strategy

The Draft Anti-Corruption Strategy prepared by the Central Vigilance Commission, CVC, calls for tackling the menace of corruption at political, social and economic level for robust and inclusive growth and transparent governance in the country. The final draft of the strategy put in public domain states, for achieving this objective all stake holders will have to be involved in raising public awareness to promote zero tolerance against corruption, strengthen legal and regulatory framework and capacity building of the institutions of accountability and enforcement agencies. The draft adds that corruption not only stifles growth but also perpetuates inequality and poverty and dilutes the fight against terrorism and organised crimes. It says the strategy will promote integrity in governance and progressively eliminate corruption through effective prevention, detection and stringent punishment for corrupt practices. AIR correspondent reports that the government has already introduced a Bill to protect the whistle blowers but the strategy also recommends a law to deal with private sector financial frauds.
