It will be a riot of colours as the Commonwealth games bid adieu to athletes and delegates from 71 countries and territories. Youthful and energetic India will be focus of the closing ceremony.In the 19th edition more than 75 new games records were rewritten. The games organising committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi said the games was successful in achievement of athletes. He asserted the games will create a good atmosphere in the country for promotion of sports.There was no let up in the medal haul even on the last day, as the hosts picked up two golds, a silver and a bronze. The women singles Badminton gold won by Saina Nehwal thumped India to second position ahead of England on the overall Games medal tally. India also completed the haul of 101 medal mark in the games, the best ever performance in the commonwealth games. Saina Nehwal defeated Malaysia's Mew Choo Wong 19-21, 23-21, 21-13. India's Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponappa won a gold for India today in Women's doubles Badminton. They defeated Shinta Mulla and Lei Yao in the final against Singapore 21-16, 21-19.Malaysia bagged the Gold in the mixed Doubles category in Badminton. Malaysia's Ee Hui Chin and Kein Keat Koo beat England's Jenny Wallwork and Nathan Robertson by 2-0. India with 38 gold 27 silver and 36 bronze is second on the medal tally while England is third with 37 Golds, 27 Silver and 45 bronze. Australia, the powerhouse of the commonwealth games, retained the top position with 74 gold, 54 silver and 48 bronze. In Men's Hockey final Australia thrashed India 8-0 winning gold while the hosts had to settle for Silver. New Zealand won the Bronze in men's hockey defeating England 5-2 in penalty Shootout. In Table tennis, India's Mouma Das and Poulami Ghatak won bronze in women doubles today. They defeated the Australian pair of Campbell and Tan 11-4,11-7,11-1. The second bronze in Table Tennis today was won in all indian Men's Singles bronze match in which, Achanta Sharath Kamal defeated Soumyadeep Roy in the 11-8, 11-5, 12-10, 11-9. Sharath Kamal's bronze completed India haul of 100 medals in the New Delhi commonwealth games.Kenya dominated the marathon events today securing golds in both men's and women's categories. In men's event, Kenya's John Kellai won the race clocking 2 hours 14 minutes 35 seconds. Australia's Michael shelly won the silver as he finished 53 seconds behind the leader. Kenya also secured the bronze with Amos Matui finishing the race in 2 hours 15 minutes 58 seconds. In Women's Section, Kenyan athletes had a one-two finish with Australia finishing third. Irene Jerothich won the race with the timing of 2 hours 34 minutes 32 seconds while compatriot Irene Mogake finished 11 seconds behind her to bag the silver.Australia's Lisa Weightman clinched the Bronze clocking 2 hours 35 minutes 25 seconds. This evening closing ceremoney of the games today will be a blast of music with a laser show as its highlight, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium this evening. The celebration will reach a crescendo tonight as the flag comes down to begin its journey to Glasgow for the next meet in 2014. Involving 7,000 performers, the theme of the closing function will showcase martial arts and include segments like 'Tribute to the Motherland' and 'Music of Universal Love', with aerostat – the world's largest helium balloon set to dazzle the spectators. The 2-hour-15-minute show featuring 7,000 performers from all over the country, will spread the message of universal love as the athletes from participating nations and territories march out as a one big family after 11 days of exhilarating action.
