Curtains come down on high pitched campaign for Nagaland, Meghalaya elections to be held on Monday

The campaigning for Nagaland and Meghalaya Assembly elections came to an end on Saturday evening. Polling for 59 seats will be held on Monday. The BJP has already bagged one seat uncontested.<br />'' <br />'' Senior police officials said that Nagaland's inter-state borders with Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh have been sealed. Polling personnel with poll materials to far flung areas have already been left. AIR Correspondent reports that political fate of 183 candidates, including 4 women, will be sealed on Monday.<br />'' <br />''The poll campaign came to an end on Saturday evening in Meghalaya also, and poll parties left to reach difficult polling stations. Over a dozen political parties and Independents held a high-pitched poll campaign for a month. A total of 369 candidates, including 36 women, are in the fray in 59 Assembly constituencies of the state. The election in Sohiong constituency was adjourned due to the demise of a UDP candidate. Chief Electoral Officer, F.R Kharkongnor informed AIR News that webcasting of polling will be held in about 1000 polling stations to ensure fair and free polling in Meghalaya.
