Current political, economic situation main agenda of CWC meeting

The current political and economic situation in the country will be main agenda of discussion in the Congress Working Committee, CWC, meeting in New Delhi on Monday. The meeting will be presided over by party president Sonia Gandhi. The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and other top leaders will also attend the meet.

AIR correspondent reports that the meeting could also see the passage of a resolution calling for effective steps to provide relief to common man facing rise in the prices of essential commodities. Fallout of the recent hike in petrol prices may also figure. Talking to reporters in New Delhi on Sunday, party general secretary, Janardan Dwivedi said the state congress chiefs and leaders of legislative Assemblies will attend the meeting.

This will be the first meeting of the CWC after the party's debacle in Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Goa.
