In the forex market, the rupee appreciated 26 paise against the US dollar. The domestic unit finished at 74 rupees and 91 paise against the US currency.

The dollar index, which indicates the US dollar's strength against a basket of six other leading currencies, fell 0.02 percent to trade at 95.98 in intra-day trade.
