In Assam, a group of state ministers today visited Tamulpur in Baksa district after tension prevailed in the area following the detention of 65 people by the police yesterday. State agriculture minister Nilmani Sen Deka and Tourism minister Chandan Brahma met representatives of various civil society organizations and urged all to maintain peace. Security has been tightened across the district.Meanwhile, district administration relaxed curfew at Rangia Revenue circle in Kamrup district for 6 hours from 9am to 3 pm. State Home secretary said that no fresh incident of violence has been reported. An all party meeting is being held in Guwahati today to discuss the situation of the state. Our correspondent reports that four state ministers and four senior officials left for Bangalore and Hyderabad to liaise with Governments of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka in connection with reported threat to the security of the people belonging to Assam and North-East. Assam government also urged all sections of people not to believe in rumors and verify all information from the control room being set up in Guwahati.A help desk has also been set up at Paltan Bazar Railway station to provide required information. District administration organized peace meeting involving all sections of people and urged to maintain Assam’s age old culture and brotherhood. Meanwhile, State Cabinet yesterday accepted the recommendations of the cabinet sub-committee on updating the National Register of Citizens.NRC. The sub-committee has recommended updating of NRC at 42 Legislative Assembly Constituencies in the first phase.
