Curfew relaxed in Bareilly

Trade unions protest against price rise<br/><br/>Thousands of workers of the major central trade unions today strongly protested against for the hike in prices of petroleum products and price rise of essential commodities in the national capital today. They are demanding rollback of the increase in prices of diesel and petrol and fertilizers. Addresing the rally All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) General Secretary Gurudas Das Gupta critcized the government for disinvesting profit making public sector enterprises and supporting privatisation. Speaking on this occassion, Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) leader Mr. M K Pandhe condemned policies of the central government on price rise. He also demanded the implementation of labour laws.<br/><br/>Addressing the workers the President of INTUC, Dr. G Sanjeevareddy said that Contract labour system should be abolished and state and central governments should act together against the menace of the price rise. Speaking on the occassion Bhartiya Majdoor Sangh, National vice – President Mr. Ramdaus Singh alleged central government for supporting hoarders and black marketers. AIR correspondent reports that traffic was disrupted in New Delhi area due to this rally and Kisan Rally.
