In Assam, curfew has been relaxed from two to five hours at Dhubri sub division in Dhubri district. Curfew has also been relaxed from 6am to 6pm at Bilasipara sub division.
A strict vigil is being maintained in the district to avert further disturbances. Additional companies, one each of Rapid Action Force and CRPF have been deployed.
Official sources said that five persons have been picked up by police last night in connection with violence activities. All Assam Students Union and 26 indigenous organisations will hold a protest rally in Lakhimpur against illegal migration.
Meanwhile, Assam government has intensified rehabilitation measures in the violence hit areas. Around 12 thousand displaced people, who have land ownership documents, will be rehabilitated in the first phase.
