Curfew re-imposed in Kokrajhar;NHRC team to visit relief camps

In Assam, curfew was re-imposed in Kokrajhar district this morning after unidentified miscreants killed 3 people and injured two others, at Raanijuli area last night. The injured people have been admitted in Guwahati Medical College Hospital. State Home Secretary G D Tripathi said that curfew has been re-imposed as a precautionary measure after angry people resorted to stone pelting and demaged some vehicles. Security forces have intensified search operation to nab the culprits. Curfew was relaxed in Chirang district from noon today. Another body was recovered this morning at Aamguri area of Chiranag district.

The Group of Ministers headed by the Revenue minister, is visiting relief camps in Dhubri district to take stock of the relief and rehabilitation measures. A four member team of National Human Rights Commission has already reached Kokrajhar district to take stock of the relief and rehabilitation measures. The team will visit various relief camps in violence hit areas for the next two days.

Meanwhile, security personnel has been deployed at 98 fixed security pickets in the violence affected areas to maintain law and order.So far, 1 lakh 16 thousand people have returned home from the relief camps resulting in the closure of 95 relief camps.Meanwhile, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi asked for CBI inquiry into the recent incidents of violence in Bodoland territorial area districts and Dhubri district.
