In Uttar Pradesh, the Saharanpur district administration has decided to lift curfew today for five hours in all six police stations of curfew-bound areas.

The curfew will be relaxed in two phases. Our correspondent reports that in the first phase curfew will be relaxed for five hours from 08.30AM to 01.30 PM in New City. In the second phase, relaxation will be from 2 PM to 7 PM in the area of Old City today.

During the period of curfew relaxation yesterday no untoward incident was reported. People paid prayers of Namaz at different places of their religious faith and were seen greeting Eid to each other.

Heavy police forces including Central paramilitary forces and PAC are constantly patrolling and officials are keeping vigil on the situation. Security has been beefed up at 74 places in curfew-bound areas. The administration is trying to normalize the situation at the earliest and has appealed to people not to go by rumors. So far three persons have been killed in the clash.

The violent clash between the two groups broke out on Saturday over construction at a disputed place of religious faith under Kutubsher area police station.
