In Sirsa town of Haryana, the District administration imposed curfew on Saturday following a group clash in which at least 12 persons were injured and six vehicles set ablaze.
The district authorities have requisitioned paramilitary forces to help in maintaining the law and order.
According to Police , the incident took place near Balmiki Chowk, when followers of a religious sect clashed with some members of a particular community, who were on their way back from a meeting in a religious place .
Deputy Commissioner J Ganesan , has appealed to residents not to step out of their homes and assured them that law and order and peace would be maintained at all cost. He said that all the injured persons have been admitted to the General Hospital, where their condition is stated to be stable.
Heavy police force has been deployed in the town to prevent any untoward incident. Additional force has been deployed in sensitive locations of the town.
The leaders of all political parties have appealed to the people to maintain peace and not to believe in rumours.
