In Kashmir valley, one person was killed and a woman was injured when security forces opened fire on a group of protesters in Kupwara town today. Following the incident, there were more protests and clashes in the town and the authorities have imposed curfew. Curfew has also been imposed in Handwara, Pattan and Talhallan towns. However, there is no curfew in Srinagar city today as it is the first Friday of the Holy Month of Ramadan. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq has been released from the house arrest. He will be leading the Friday prayers at the Srinagar Jama Masjid today.
