In Assam, curfew continues in violence-hit Barpathar and Chokihola areas in Karbi Anglong district. Curfew was imposed on Friday after militants killed 4 people. Karbi Anglong S P, Mughdya Jyoti Mahanta said that no untoward incident has been reported during last 24 hours.
He said that curfew was relaxed for a few hours yesterday. The army and other security forces are maintaining a strict vigil. Meanwhile, more villagers are taking shelter at relief camps due to inclement weather. The S P said that medical teams have been deployed at relief camps.
On the other hand, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gagoi held discussion with his Nagaland counterpart Niephu Rio in Jorhat last evening. Both the Chief Ministers discussed on the present situation of Karbi Anglong district and steps being taken to maintain law and order.
Official sources said that Gogoi told Nagaland Chief Minister that all steps are being taken to ensure safety of people including Rengma Naga community residing in Karbi Anglong. Nagaland Chief Minister expressed satisfaction on the steps being taken by the Assam government.
