In Uttar Pradesh, curfew continues in both the police station areas of Kotwali and Cantonment in Faizabad district for the 4th consecutive day. There was no relaxation in curfew. No fresh incident of violence is reported from any curfew bound areas as well as from rural areas in the district during the last 36 hours.

Quoting official sources our Allahabad correspondent reports that meetings of peace committees attended by reputed representatives from all walks of life are also being held. Additional District Magistrate City Mr. Arvind Chaurasia said that prohibitory orders are being implemented strictly. He said, over 70 people have been arrested for their alleged involvement into incidents of violence and arson and 20 FIRs lodged.
