In Uttar Pradesh, no relaxation has been given in curfew on the fourth day today in Faizabad district. Curfew continues in both the police station areas of Kotwali and Cantonment though no fresh incident of violence is reported from any curfew hit areas as well as from rural areas in the district during last 24 hours.
Additional District Magistrate City Arvind Chaurasia told our Allahabad correspondent that offering of Namaz on the Idul Azha yesterday passed of peacefully under tight security.
Senior Superintendent of Police Ramit Sharma told our correspondent that above 70 persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement into incidents of violence and arson and 20 FIRs have been lodged.
He said situation at Bhadaras town area is under control. Senior officials including an ADM and ASP are camping at Bhadarasa to keep a close eye on the miscreants. He said objectionable literature and explosives have been seized from Bhadarasa locality during search and raids.
The government has deployed several senior police officials including the Additional Director General Law and Order Jagmohan Yadav and two each IG and DIG level officers and three SP rank officers at Faizabad to control the situation.
31 companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary of state police and Rapid Action Force have been deployed in trouble hit areas to maintain peace and order in the district.
